AGILE PRACTICE
The concept of agile methodologies originated in 2001 when seventeen software developers gathered at a ski resort in Utah to create the Manifesto for Agile Software Development. This document laid out key values and twelve Principles of Agile Software that have since revolutionized industries beyond software development, such as Kanban, Scrum, extreme programming, and pair programming. These agile methods prioritize iterative progress and flexibility over rigid, sequential workflows, allowing for more adaptive and client-focused results.
Originally designed for software, agile methods are now embraced across industries for their ability to foster resilience, customer-centricity, and adaptability in a fast-changing environment. At our firm, we believe that these principles are just as crucial for the legal profession.
An agile approach to legal services streamlines communication, fosters early and continuous delivery of results, and ensures both parties are aligned on goals from the outset.
ALVK LAW’s agile practice also redefines the traditional billing model by focusing on the value of the deliverables rather than the time spent. Through value-based billing, we assign value to project milestones, which are negotiated upfront in the Definition of Done (DoD) and formalized in an Agile Legal Service Agreement between client and attorney.
With this project management methodology, clients can develop products, services, and processes that are “Legal by Design”, allowing legal considerations to be integrated seamlessly from the start, while permitting adaptable priorities to meet unique requirements.
